A large barrier to my ability to enjoy this book is my extreme dislike for Pipher's writing style. Sentences are short, simplistic, and superficial. Paragraphs are choppy and lack organization. I can't understand why she places sections of her books under subheadings as she clearly disregards the topics and rambles endlessly about one or two ill-informed themes. I've read this book in its entirety, and persused another of her books, and have found this shoddy approach to not only be consistent, but consensus. I've heard similar complaints from other readers. Stylistic issues aside, I can't help but feel Pipher paints an unrealistic portrait of the issues she attempts to address in her books. Reviving Ophelia is, at best, a narrow-minded and poorly expressed manuscript of opinions.
